What does it mean to truly appreciate?

How do I explain that to my child?
We complain that we have nothing.
We complain that it could always be better.
But… how is it really?
Aren’t the things surrounding us now
the very things we once dreamed of?
How do I teach my child to appreciate
when I give him everything?
If there is no sense of lack –
how can he learn the feeling of gratitude?
Does anyone see this?
I think I’ve just found the meaning of our pain.
Pain is the shape of something we deeply longed for,
but didn’t have.
So how are we supposed to learn appreciation…
without pain?
Is it even possible
to truly appreciate something
when nothing is missing?
How do I do this
on a new path?
Does anyone already know the way?
❤️

If I no longer want to reach for pain.

If I no longer want to teach through lack…then how can I teach? I can reach into my own presencewith…
