“What more do you want?” – my husband asked.
“Romance… with my husband,” – I answered.
“I can’t give you more than I already do…” – he said.
And suddenly, I felt like I was in “Pretty Woman”.
Hmm…
A little sad, isn’t it?
We live fast.
We live full, interesting lives.
We live beautifully.
My husband and I do our best to take care of each other every day.
We try to meet life with kindness and presence.
We try to wrap our little son in love and care, day after day.
We’re there for our parents, for those close to us.
And somewhere in all of that…
We run out of time.
Out of energy.
For us.
For recharging as a couple.
For closeness.
For silly conversations that don’t lead anywhere.
I wish for everyone
not only to manage life’s to-do list
but to loosen the straps a little
and go on a date.
Or take a walk.
Or sneak to the kitchen for ice cream.
Together.
And not just his favorite kind. 🙂
For touch.
For “boring” cuddles.
For kisses in the elevator.
The little things.
We can’t invent a longer day,
my husband and I.
But by noticing what we’re missing,
we can seek out the desires of our hearts,
and create new moments.
In the in-between,
In the passing,
In the middle of it all.
That mindset makes all the difference.
Look for romance in what you already have.
