What if we allowed ourselves a different perspective. 

Today is a holiday 
that is important to so many people. 
Who do we value? 
Who are we talking about? 
Every religion has a different view 
on different parts of his life… 
But why do we talk about him today? 
Only out of tradition? 
Out of deep faith? 
In what? 
Maybe in what he carried. 
Maybe what matters more is who he was. 
What he did. 
How he lived. 

He spoke about values. 
He was a kind, deeply feeling human being, 
aware of himself and others. 
He created a space around him 
in which other people — 
whether they were rich or poor, 
whether they were greedy or generous, 
“good” or “bad” as we like to call it 🙂 
— could feel at ease,
could feel seen again, 
could feel important again, 
could feel human again,
… both the tired ones and the “sinful” ones. 

He created a space without judgment. 
Everyone had a chance. 
Everyone was important. 
From the beginning. 

Maybe the lesson for ourselves 
could be that if we value him
— we can awaken it within ourselves. 
Quietly. 
In the heart. 
In taking care of ourselves 
and creating space for others.
