With my husband, we celebrate Valentine’s Day
… on every other day.
There are perks to that 🙂
Flowers are half the price.
A candlelit dinner without feeling like
you’re on a blind date,
elbow to elbow with the next table…
Last year, he got me flowers on Valentine’s Day and said,
“Sweetheart, these flowers were twice as expensive…”
But what does it mean for a Woman to receive a bouquet,
or even just a single flower?
Not on her birthday.
Not on a day when something happened.
Not on a day when she expects it.
Just on an ordinary day…
It means something entirely different.
It means she matters ..
To You.
That you thought of her.
That you simply wanted to lift her spirits.
That you care.
That you’re her man – the one she loves.
She’ll be happy and proud.
Look at Her.
Can a single flower really mean all that?
Yes.
Why do we give kids chocolates,
teddy bears, and lollipops?
To show them they matter to us.
To let them know we remember them
even when they’re not around.
It’s similar with adults.
Why did we forget that?
We want to know we matter.
We want to feel that someone is thinking of us.
These may seem like “silly little things.”
But they’re like magic words.
And men need care too.
Warmth.
A hug.
A kind word.
It’s worth trying to give
each other these beautiful,
small gestures without any occasion.
And to see how it transforms
the relationship.
And how much we truly
need one another
on the seemingly ordinary days.
