To Build – Part 2

To Build
I need to look for words
that… build 🙂
To name the things I want,
making them accessible to others.
If I want them to keep walking with me
on my journey.
I cannot keep spitting at someone over and over again 
and expect
that I will build something in respect.
Either we keep kicking at each other, complaining
and stay in it.
Or we stop, take inventory
and change.
That is also our choice.
Not “because it just happened.”
We are the ones making the decision
about what our life will look like from here.
I am the one making the decision
about what my life will look like from here.
To build, I need to look for
what connects us.
This is the harder path.
But worth everything.
Anyone can slam a door.
Anyone can scream anger out in anger too. 

But to find a shared path
is to reach for “I want to.” 

It is reaching new possibilities within yourself.
It is building your character from the inside out.
I choose what I want to build with.
You can force things to hold together.
But how long can that last?
I don’t want to just endure anymore.
I want to live.
Not somewhere up in heaven.
Here on Earth.
Now, while I breathe.
