Am I following my heart?
What should I focus on today?
What do I need to see?
An experiment 🙂
5 – 10 – 15
minutes
For the next 30 days – 5 minutes a day.
When I can “stand” being alone with myself
in silence – I move on to 10 minutes.
Or I stay at 5 minutes for as long as it takes,
until I notice with relief
“Mamma Mia!
I am not my thoughts.”
Ooooo… now this is getting interesting…
Can I actually manage all of this?!
Yes.
Welcome to the cockpit of stepping away
from the automatic brain,
so that I can learn to take the controls manually.
From the heart,
consciously,
not reacting to every stimulus – but responding
only when I choose to
and finally, in the way I truly want to.
This is what integration means:
I feel.
I think.
I say.
How?
5 minutes – every day.
Challenge – 40 days.
Why?
To create a new habit.
A new habit that will support me
and the steps that follow.
I sit.
Feet on the ground.
Or I can sit cross-legged.
Back straight.
Eyes closed.
I focus on the space between my eyebrows.
And I breathe.
Into my belly.
I focus only on my breathing.
I set a timer for 5 minutes.
I just breathe.
Most likely, after 3 seconds,
my thoughts will carry me back
to my last argument.
Yes… I see.
I leave “those thoughts” alone.
I return to breathing.
Most likely, after another 10 seconds,
my thoughts will carry me away
into my plans for today.
Yes… I see.
I leave “those thoughts” alone.
I return to breathing.
I don’t fight them.
Every time
– when I notice that I have drifted away –
I simply return to my breathing.
I am learning how to sit at the controls
of my body and my mind.
Yes.
It is almost funny
how powerfully our thoughts
carry us away.
How difficult it is to live like this.
And we don’t even know it.
That we can change it.
Because no one has ever told us
about this key – the one that opens:
CONSCIOUSLY LEARNING
TO MANAGE our Mind.
Because:
I am not my Thoughts.
I am not my Emotions.
I am not my Patterns.
All of this takes hold of me – without my knowledge.
Without my awareness – of how deeply.
Without my consent – that I am not the one sitting at the controls.
Try it yourself.
Just 5 minutes.
And after 3 minutes, I was already checking
whether I had actually started the timer. 🙂
And my back hurt so much.
And it was uncomfortable.
“I can’t do this.”
“I can’t take it.”
Is it really only 5 minutes??
🙂
For me, the experience of feeling separate
– from my thoughts –
came after 3 weeks
of learning to sit in silence every day.
“Wooooow … I am not my thoughts”
I was amazed more than 4 years ago.
And I have never stopped since.
Wow… and no one ever taught us this at school?
No.
Today I teach… my child.
But first, I had to learn it myself.
