More often, the work isn’t in him or with him.
The work is mine to do.
The work is about me.
He responds to my changes.
Otherwise, I fight with him and with myself.
Otherwise, the turbulence launches me straight into the cosmos.
And yes — I have those moments too 🙂
A child shows us the way every day.
It’s my task to be attentive enough
to notice what is happening
and how to respond.
We get irritated with our children
“Could you just stop?!”
“Could you be quiet already?” 🙂
He could. He will.
When you do your work.
Who is the Adult here?
Who is learning how to live
on this earth longer?
He won’t help you.
But you can help him.
The more I grow
– the more I give my child.
The more peace there is within me
– the more peace I give him.
The direction is not from the Child to me.
The direction is from me to the Child.
He shows the Way.
I figure out how to walk it.
And when I don’t know how?
Sometimes — and even often —
I don’t know.
It is new. It is difficult.
I learn, I search, I test,
I experiment in real life to see
what works for us.
It is a process.
And this process also begins
with the Parents.
Never the other way around.
Children don’t know
how to manage themselves.
Isn’t it funny
that we expect this from them?
And can we do it ourselves?
So I wish for myself and for others
a little looseness in the suspenders…
and laughter in helplessness.
If my child remembers
a little more of this helpless laughter
than shouting,
he will probably be just fine.
What I give
— he will give to his children.
And maybe it is better
if he passes on that smile.
Even if it is helpless.
When everything inside me
is shaking and I still don’t know
how to handle it
– the only thing I look for
is my own Peace.
Only in my peace can I breathe
and create space
for new situations,
different solutions,
and a distance
that keeps me from launching myself
out of the orbit of this planet again 🙂
At least this way,
I spare myself
the guilt of shouting louder
than my child..
Sometimes I follow my Child.
